Description
Mid-century modern oval bowl by Carstens Tonnieshof Pottery of West Germany. Features a fat lava turquoise blue matte glaze on the inside and brown shiny glaze on the outside. Two holes on each side add visual interest. Some scuffs along the rim. Otherwise great vintage condition, consistent with age and use.
Carstens Tonnieshof Ceramics was founded in 1900 and post war production began in 1947 in Northern West Germany. Trude Carstens was artistic director until her death in 1965. The company was very successful, producing a wide range of shapes and glazes.
