Kanawha Glass Company was an American art glass company that began in 1953 when a few of the artisans from the failed Dunbar Glass Company came together to start a new business. The new company was located in West Virginia and named after the Kanawha River. The company grew in popularity in the 1960s. It competed with Blenko, Rainbow, Pilgrim, Viking and other popular mid-20th century glass makers producing colorful stylized retro mod forms. Kanawha provided the fashionable glass of the time offering many forms in crackle glass, a wide array of bright colors and exaggerated forms.
